Live Green Save Green

What's your best tip for living green and saving green?  Mine is definitely gradually changing from standard light bulbs to compact fluorescent bulbs.  Even though CFLs cost a little more initially, they last so much longer and I love not having the hassle of changing and purchasing bulbs frequently.  Plus, we have less waste in our house since we aren't constantly throwing out used bulbs.  Share your best Live Green Save Green tip by responding to this discussion!  We'll all get some new ideas on what has worked for others . . .

We do not water our lawn and even in the heat this summer our grass has survived. We also do not use bottled water and I collect interesting canvas bags or sacks to take shopping, this is fun because they may have lots of different advertising which seems to be a nice talking point when waiting in line.

Personally, the CFI's work dependably in areas where the light is on for long stretches of time. Over the kitchen sink as a nightlight @ 5am when I'm stumbling to the coffee pot, the little light by the bed where I am constantly falling asleep reading, and the back hallway so my son doesn't stumble upstairs at 4am. Have you heard anything about the CFI's supposedly from China that are overheating and popping with fire sometimes as the resulting?
My best green tip is to make rain barrels. For overflow I use  a soaker hose so my plants stay moist but the water from the rain barrels can be used for gardens, bird baths, washing out paint brushes, and adding water to your compost pile. They are great!
