Live Green Save Green

Does anybody have any green tips for getting rid of ants?  I have my annual spring ant march going on around my kitchen window sill, and would love to have some alternative treatments rather than commercial ant sprays!  Thanks!

I USE SEVEN DUST AND IT REALLY WORKS. I KNOW THAT IT IS FOR DOGS AND PLANTS BUT TRY IT AND THEY WILL SAY BYE BYE. :)
They may just be moving -- we were talking about this yesterday in my mother's yard.  She said that club soda just moved the fire ants in her yard.   According to her, boiling water worked better.

I had used Pine Sol on the door stoop for years and never had ants, now we have had fire ants out in the yard, and I was told to use club soda. Since there tunnels can be 30 ft or more, the soda smothers them. Seems to work. Or they just moved away which is okay by me too.

Use instant grits with some crushed potato chips in the area where they frequent.  The oily chips attract them and they eat the grits and explode as they expand in their stomachs.  Sounds gross, but it works.  They take them back to their nest too.  Worked for me.

YES and YES - Grits are what I have used for years - it's Pet safe.... REALLY works and won't break the bank - keeps the kiddos safe too
use The AMDRO FireStrike 5 lb. Ready-to-Use Fire Ant Bait is real good .i work for pet control .and i use this product .
Use diatamacious earth that is used in swimming pools.  They carry back to the colony and it kills the colony.
try using used dryer sheets at their point of entry or where they want to hang up.  works for us!

Hi,

I can't find the source of where the ants are coming from.  Any suggestions?

Rae, I don't know any tricks to finding the source . . . I always just sort of backtrack the line of ants and can usually tell where.  Does that not work?
